Title: ADULT ORTODONTICS BY MEANS OF PARTIAL LINGUAL APPLIANCES
AIM: Demand for adult treatment is rising fast in ortodontic offices. Usually adults seek esthetic and quick solutions for their problems. Correcting the six front teeth for adult patients has been an accepted treatment modality with lingual appliances. In this respect, the IncognitoTM appliance system offers the partial “lite” option for clinicians to bring solutions to their adult patient’s needs. The aim of this study is to present the results of a group of patients that had the “lite” treatment.
METHOD: Each patient in the study group (n=10) was treated with Incognito-lite appliances. In three of the patients mini-implants were used to expand the limits of the limited “lite” treatment. Patients in the study group had a mean age of 25±3,2 years.
RESULTS: Satisfactory and successful treatment results were achieved with the limited “lite” treatment in adult patients. Even better results than the setup were achieved by using mini-implants as an adjunct to treatment.
CONCLUSION: Treating only the six anterior teeth by means of custom lingual appliances can widen the treatment options that can be presented to the adult ortodontic patient’s needs
